As travel moves beyond crowded tourist destinations and photo opportunities, Sarah, Shozo and the island of Shikoku invite you to join an ancient pilgrimage adventure, an inner and outer travel experience for a deeper purpose.

No matter our beliefs or background, this pilgrimage provides a spiritual experience amongst beautiful landscapes, tests our stamina and allow us to ponder our place in the universe. It reminds us, in the midst of our busy, materialistic lives, that we should perhaps slow down, pause and consider the grander picture.

With intimate numbers and two interpreters, enjoy direct interaction with fellow Japanese pilgrims on the path, local communities, cuisine, cultural experiences and ample time to contemplate a path walked by thousands since the 8th century.

The pilgrimage begins in Shikoku, Japan's fourth largest island, each of it's four prefectures represent different phases of an 88 temple pilgrimage dedicated to Kobo-Daishi (774-835AD), a greatly revered figure in Japanese Buddhism. Our journey can include other destinations such as Koyasan - the resting place of the pilgrimage founder, and Kyoto - Japan’s ancient spiritual capital.

“Temple Trek Japan 2018 was a life changing experience for me! To experience the culture, the walking, the locations, the food, with two people who have such intimate knowledge, understanding, appreciation for this part of the world was a real privilege. Everything was really well organised and with both Sarah and Shozo fluent in the language it was all very easeful and loads of fun. I haven’t laughed so much in years! Many many thanks Sarah and Shozo for a very memorable experience.”
